FlexMex

Model Experiment for the Temporally and Spatially Highly Resolved Examination of Future Load Balancing in the Electrical Power System

  • Project no.151613
  • Duration 01/2019 - 12/2021

The project is part of the joint project "Model Experiment for the Temporally and Spatially Highly Resolved Investigation of Future Load Balancing in the Electrical Power System" (FlexMex).

The aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of the relationships between modelling approaches, input data and model results in the mapping and analysis of technical-structural flexibilities in future power systems. Through a systematic comparison of several models of energy system analysis within a defined model experiment, a comprehensive data basis for the synthesis and evaluation of results is generated by means of various scenario calculations. The Wuppertal Institute's sub-project focuses on these considerations using the "RESTORE" model. The exchange with the participating partners, the transparent communication of own approaches and the implementation of uniform input data and problem formulations should strengthen the mutual understanding of the models. Through systematic comparison with the models of the project partners involved, conclusions can be drawn for the improvement of the own model quality.
