TRANSfer III – MRV

TRANSfer III – Short-Term Expert Support on MRV / Transparency Framework on Transport Mitigation Actions

  • Project no.251361
  • Duration 11/2017 - 12/2020

The TRANSfer III project – Short-Term Expert (STE) support on Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV) of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) provides technical assistance in partner countries in South-East Asia (Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines) and in Peru to facilitate the development of ambitious transport mitigation actions. The project aims to:

  • Establish and manage the Mobilise Your City (MYC) initiative to support climate friendly transport in developing and emerging economies;
  • Generate standardised toolkits for mitigation actions in urban mobility;
  • Support the development of at least 8 ready-to-implement mitigation actions;
  • Develop knowledge products and provide a stage for disseminating good practices at a global level.

To realise the above actions, STEs in TRANSfer III project will engage with partner countries to identify, prioritise and design MRV actions and related activities. The project will provide the necessary expertise to develop policies and options for institutional framework that enables a robust MRV system. For the MRV mitigation actions, STEs will review the NDCs submitted by the partner countries, support in revising the existing methodology or implementing a MRV methodology and assist governments in institutionalising data collection for a sustained MRV framework.
