On 4 September, 2023, Anja Bierwirth, Head of the Urban Transitions Research Unit at the Wuppertal Institute, will co-chair a session on sufficiency at the World Resources Forum '23 (WRF '23). Topics include grassroots understandings of sufficiency, connections between sufficiency and innovation, sustainability assessment of neighborhoods, and perspectives for sustainable building. The session will be livestreamed.

WRF '23 in Geneva will bring together experts from academia, government and business to discuss pressing resource use issues from 4 to 6 September. Over the three-day event, more than 100 experts will speak – this year primarily on the key topics of sufficiency, value chains and digitalisation. Bierwirth is a member of the Scientific Committee of WRF '23 and was involved in the selection of the scientific papers presented there, the speakers, and the development of the programme in the run-up to the event.

The conference is the flagship event of the nonprofit organisation of the same name: The World Resources Forum (WRF) understands itself as a platform for the exchange of information on the economic, political, social and ecological impacts of the global use of resources. WRF's mission is to promote the more efficient use of resources and to engage and activate a broad, international audience: Researchers, policy makers, businesses, NGOs and civil society.
