Social Life Cycle Assessment of Products

A publication of the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative

Life Cycle Assessment is a method of gathering information about possible and real effects of product life cycles. The life cycle of products causes material, energy and financial flows and it also influences the life of the involved workers, the production site, the consumers and the actors of the value creation chain. The new publication "Guidelines for Social Life Cycle Assessment of Products" edited by the Life Cycle Initiative offers a frame and best practice examples to especially assess the social and social economic dimensions of product life cycles. The Life Cycle Initiative is a joint initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). Justus von Geibler participates in the report as reviewer.
