By visualising research results with the aid of presentation graphics, book illustrations and exhibition modules, the VisLab has provided graphic support for science transfer ever since the Institute was launched in 1991.
In addition to producing smaller-scale printed matter such as letterheads, flyers, etc., the VisLab is in charge of the entire prepress work (design and layout, typesetting, graphics and imaging) on Institute publications, be they in-house series titles such as Wuppertal Spezial, Wuppertal Report or Wuppertal Bulletin, or books published by publishers such as Oekom, Hirzel, Kluwer and Birkhäuser, including titles such as Zukunftsfähiges Deutschland, Faktor 4, Erdlandung and Weltmacht Energie.
The VisLab is currently working to expand its output to the production of digital videos on Mini-DV tape. Using the medium of film will add an innovative element that significantly expands the audience reached by the Institute's successful scientific communication work. Much of the Institute’s work is concentrated in practice-oriented pilot projects for the business and the education sectors that are intended for broad-based implementation after completion of the pilot phase. Making projects and examples of best practice of this kind available on film will by virtue of its highly graphic nature make an even greater contribution towards spreading ideas and inspiring emulation. |
