The Wuppertal Institute has a fairly slim administration consisting of Project Administration, Accounting and Human Resources Units.
Because of its legal status as a non-profit limited company the Wuppertal Institute is subject to the provisions of the German Commercial Code and prepares accounts in compliance with the regulations for large corporations.
The Project Administration Unit supports researchers in the acquisition of projects and draws up statements and accounts for large third-party-funded projects as well. On average 120 projects are processed each year.
The Wuppertal Institute employs roughly 170 staff members looked after by the Human Resources Unit. The workforce composition is as follows: Around 85 researchers, 50 student assistants and junior research fellows and 35 colleagues in the secretarial offices, the service units and administration.
