Cities save costs through intracting Organisational innovation for increased energy efficiency
Intracting is a financing tool for implementing energy or water-saving measures.
The idea behind intracting is simple: the initial investment costs are recouped through the cost savings achieved by implementing energy-saving measures.
The saving measures are planned, financed and realised internally, within one and the same organisation. For example, a town's planning and building inspection office might finance the energy and water-saving measures of other departments, such as the education authority.
Intracting models are currently used mainly in municipal energy and water management, but intracting is also of interest to all other public authorities (e.g. district administrations, the federal states), housing associations and industry. An expansion into other areas, e.g. waste avoidance, is also quite conceivable. Read more...
